The object that gave these clever cats their name is that of the winding rushing water from which the majority of their prey is found. The ever winding river passes through most of this Clan's territory and helps to keep RiverClan cats sleek and well fed through much of early leaf-bare. Other Clans refer to them as lazy cats for their well fed appearances and glossy coats but many of those mutterings stem from envy. While forest prey has been sent into hiding by the first frost, the river remains as an easy food source until the frosty air finally freezes the watery surface.

Though the majority of RiverClan territory is claimed by the river from whence their named there is a small portion covered by strange woodland plants. Here beech and willow trees grow in clumps and thickets, making for another possible hunting area. Though during the three warmer seasons this area is not sought much for prey but rather used for training apprentices. Later it is merely sought out once the river becomes hard underpaw. It is generally only then RiverClan cats come forth to search for ground dwelling creatures.
Deep in RiverClan territory in meadowy area is a thicket of beech trees. Only a few tail-lengths in is a small enclosed area of flat clay-colored sand where a little pond lies nearby. A few water voles and mice may be found here but the main objective is for training apprentices. The area underpaw is soft and sandy, with strange spongy moss growing In spurts. It makes for a perfect area to practice fighting technics as well as swimming with the small shallow pool.

Towards the Beech forest there is a strange area the RiverClan cats claim as home. Here, much like the WindClan moorlands, is flat ground that is covered in high swaying grass. Many twoleg horses can be seen grazing throughout here but it doesn't appear to bother them. If one avoids their clumsy feet this area is a good place to practice trail scenting and stalking techniques.
On the far Western side of RiverClan territory lies a beautiful meadow filled to the brim with flowers and herbs. Here the different plants sway in the soft breeze, their petals reaching up toward the open sky. Somewhere towards the middle of the peaceful area is a pond from which RiverClan cats can fish once more or merely relax for the day. It is usually very quiet and peaceful here.

At the very edge of RiverClan territory is a steep narrow valley which cuts the earth between RiverClan and WindClan. Many, many tail-lengths down below the rocky cliffs is the rushing water of the River. This area is incredibly dangerous however, and not to be sought out by apprentices.
Near the WindClan border is a small, strange twoleg contraption the cats refer to as a bridge. The strange wooden planks make for easy crossing into neutral territory when the surging waters have become too high. Though strange to use there is a small rocky incline near here and a stretch of open grass. An easy place to hunt before one heads into untouchable territory.
